Journal of Epigraphy, Translation and Review

LIBRI: The Journal of Epigraphy, Translation and Review is a national, peer-reviewed and online review journal and does not have any affiliation with any institution or organization. The journal which is prepared by a group of the historians of Ancient History and idealist academics does not look after any interest. It is an open access and non-profit periodical. It may not be sold.

LIBRI aims to provide the book notices and reviews published in different disciplines (history, historical geography, archaeology, epigraphy, numismatics etc.) relating to the Ancient and Late Ancient History of Anatolia and to introduce the translation of the sources written in Ancient Greek and Latin. Should the book notices and reviews be in questions, the books published in the aforesaid topics within the last 1 or 2 years are preferred. However, as the field of our periodical is Ancient History and other disciplines relating to it and is also limited to the Ancient &Late Ancient History in terms of chronology, this span of time may be flexible due to the scarcity of the original works and translations in the field.

The point that needs to be taken into consideration is the fact that the book notices, review and translations should not be considered as articles. They differ from each other in terms of subject, methodology, approach, limit and object. Due to the contents upon which are generally agreed in terms of their scope and the field which they are affiliated with, they do not contain abstract or key words in Turkish or in any other language.

The journal is not the product of an instant enthusiasm or a popular trend. It is a small step in order to compensate the deficiency of the translations of the ancient sources and to increase the quality level of the reviews which are not at the desired level in our country.

Our journal aims to create awareness and provide social benefit by publishing informative book notices relating to the books published in recent years on the Mediterranean Basin and the civilisations both in Turkey and abroad and reviews written by the experts of the field for the academics, students and intellectuals who are interested in the Antiquity. The journal also serves the function of increasing the abilities of MA and PhD candidates being at the beginning of their academic career in terms of analytical thinking and thesis writing process by giving a support and courage to them as well.

The users can read, freely download, distribute and print the articles in full text, as well as giving link to the articles with reference, without requiring any permission from the publisher or the author(s).

The notices, reviews and translations, process of which are completed is published on the web site of the journal (libridergi.org) within the relevant issue (Volume IX: January-December 2023) throughout the year. The issue of the relevant year is completed at the end of the month of December. The authors are responsible for the content of their work.
